Practice choosing the right four before the match starts.
Team Preview trains players to choose the best four Pokemon, expected leads, and likely win conditions before the first turn of a VGC battle.
Bring 4
Lead choice
Matchup planning
This mode will teach you:
- how to pick bring 4 in best-of-three
- how to lead into Fake Out + setup cores
- when to bench your best attacker for coverage
- how to read their win plan from six Pokemon
- how to adapt game 2 and game 3 brings
- why bad preview loses before turn one
What This Mode Trains
- Identify which four actually solve the matchup.
- Plan leads that do not fold to the opponent’s most obvious pressure.
- Spot which bench options matter and which ones are bait.
Why It Matters in VGC
- A weak preview decision can make good play much harder later.
- Preview skill is one of the largest separators between decent and strong VGC players.
- Training it directly makes the rest of the battle cleaner.
Example
A team may show both Tailwind pressure and a Trick Room backup. The strongest four are the ones that cover both plans, not just your favorite attackers.
Common Questions
Why train preview separately?
Because preview is its own decision point with its own logic. It deserves focused practice.
Does this help in best-of-three sets?
Yes. Better preview skill carries directly into adaptation across games.
