Read the board, pick your defensive play, and answer under time pressure.

Pressure Cooker presents real VGC board states and asks you to evaluate your defensive options on a timer. Each scenario tests whether you should Protect, Terastallize, or switch to reduce incoming damage, plus VGC knowledge questions grounded in what is on the board.

Timed quiz Defensive reads Board evaluation

This mode will teach you:

  • how to evaluate Protect, Tera, and switch as defensive options
  • when Terastallizing actually reduces damage and when it does not
  • which bench Pokemon best resists the incoming attack
  • whether Protect is available or locked out from last turn
  • type matchups, ability immunities, and item effects under pressure
  • how to read a board state and make fast defensive decisions

What This Mode Trains

  • Evaluate Protect, Tera, and switch options for each board state under a timer.
  • Answer VGC knowledge questions grounded in the specific matchup on screen.
  • Build faster defensive instincts through repetition across 100 unique scenarios.

Why It Matters in VGC

  • Defensive decisions are time-sensitive. Slow reads lose games.
  • Knowing when to Protect, Tera, or switch is often the difference between winning and losing a turn.
  • This mode drills those reads with real board states instead of abstract theory.
Example

Roaring Moon threatens Earthquake into your Bronzong. The quiz asks: Can you Protect here? Does Tera to Bug reduce damage? Which bench switch resists Ground best? Plus a type knowledge question, all on a countdown timer.

How does the timer work?

You read the board state first, then click the timer to start. You have a set number of seconds to answer all four questions correctly.

Are the questions always the same?

Each of the 100 scenarios has its own baked set of questions. Two are about your defensive options, two test VGC knowledge tied to the board.
