Plan strong VGC partners around the Pokémon you can actually use.

Pokémon Champions lets you build teams with Pokémon you do not own. Matchmaker helps you learn what each Pokémon does well and build the best team possible around what you have—whether your HOME box is deep or small. Use Team Lab when you want to check full six-slot coverage.

Cores Partners Synergy

This mode will teach you:

  • what pairs well with Flutter Mane
  • best partners for Urshifu in VGC
  • how Incineroar / Rillaboom glue teams together
  • what needs redirection or Fake Out to function
  • how to build a three-Pokemon core before fillers
  • why is everyone running the same support duo

What This Mode Trains

  • Find support pieces that cover weaknesses or unlock stronger lines.
  • Understand why certain two- and three-Pokemon cores keep appearing in VGC.
  • Plan around Pokémon you can field in Champions—even when they are new to you or not in your HOME box.

Why It Matters in VGC

  • Champions rewards knowing roles and partners, not only owning every meta Pokémon.
  • Experienced players often rely on Pokémon HOME and a full collection; if you do not, Matchmaker helps you plan teams you understand.
  • Good partner selection improves preview reads and in-battle flexibility.
Example

You pick a Pokémon you want to build around—maybe one you just unlocked in Champions. Matchmaker shows partners that cover weaknesses or unlock stronger lines. If something is still missing across six slots, Team Lab can stress-test coverage.

Is this only for beginners?

No. It also helps experienced players test new cores faster.

Does synergy mean only offense?

No. Defensive cover, pivot support, and speed control matter just as much.

Why does this matter for Pokémon Champions?

Champions lets you use Pokémon you do not own on your team. Matchmaker helps you learn what those Pokémon do and who pairs with them, even when your HOME collection is small.
